Volleyball Fest at the Ocean Center Jan. 29 - 31

The Team Connection Daytona Beach 100 and USA Volleyball Boys’ Florida Fest events will spike their way into the Volusia County Ocean Center from Jan. 29 - 31. It’s the first time the events will be at the facility at 101 N. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach.

The Team Connection Daytona Beach 100 is a two-day junior girls’ volleyball tournament, which will be held in the Ocean Center arena. Competitors are ages 8 - 18. The USA Volleyball junior boys’ Florida Fest Bid Tournament will be in the Ocean Center exhibit hall on the same days.

The events are open to the public in the Ocean Center arena and exhibit hall. Spectator tickets will be sold at the door and are $7 per day, or $10 for a multi-day pass.

The Team Connection Daytona Beach 100 and USA Volleyball Boys Florida Fest are two of the few volleyball events in the United States that combine junior boys’ and girls’ teams in the same venue. As a bonus, four men’s collegiate teams will play a round-robin tournament beginning Friday in the Ocean Center exhibit hall, finishing up Saturday in the arena.

“We saw the plans for the Ocean Center exhibit hall several years ago, and really liked the layout,” said AJ Joseph, president of Joseph Volleyball Camps. “And its location, right across the street from the beach, attracted our attention. Sometimes we get so engrossed in planning the event itself that we forget that our attendees have a whole range of experiences outside of the playing venue.

“Daytona Beach, with the ocean and the Speedway nearby, offers a wide range of activities that our attendees will enjoy. With four collegiate men's teams playing in Daytona Beach that weekend as well, we should have an amazing atmosphere,” added Joseph.

Competing men’s collegiate teams include Grand Canyon from Phoenix; Limestone and Lees-McRae from the Carolinas; and Johnson & Wales from Colorado. More than 100 junior girls and boys teams from Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Connecticut, Virginia and Texas, will compete for titles in seven age divisions.

The Team Connection Daytona Beach 100 and USA Volleyball Boys’ Florida Fest were joint booking ventures of the Ocean Center and the Daytona Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. Learn more about the tournament at www.cochill.com/tournaments, or call AJ Joseph at (719) 201-7323.
