March events at the Volusia County Ocean Center

The Ocean Center in Daytona Beach is garnering a lot of national interest these days - national sales meetings, national comedic acts, national car audio and motorcycle shows and national athletic competitions. Thousands of conventioneers and event attendees from around the world are expected to patron the Ocean Center’s public and private events this March.

From 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, March 3 - 6, the Daytona Cycle World International Motorcycle Show will fill the Ocean center exhibit hall and west parking lot with street bikes, tricked-out customs, accessory vendors and live entertainment. The show’s Daytona Beach dates represent the 12th tour stop on a nationwide tour, which is in its 17th consecutive year. Admission is free all days. Motorcycle parking is $5 in the facility’s south parking lot, adjacent to the Peabody Auditorium, and car parking is $10 in the garage. On Friday, March 12, US Foodservice will have a vendor fair and sales meeting in the Ocean Center ballroom. More than 200 sales representatives and vendors are expected to attend. According to its web site, US Foodservice is one of the United States largest foodservice distributors of national, private label and signature brand items. The company also will hold its Food Show at the facility Tuesday, March 30.

The 24th annual Spring Break Nationals (SBN) will return to the World’s Most Famous Beach from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 13 - 14. Open to the public, SBN is a mobile electronics trade show featuring manufacturer’s displays that showcase the latest in automotive sound, vision, navigation, Bluetooth devices and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) integration products. Tickets will be $10 at the door (cash only).

H.T. Hackney, a wholesale grocery distributor based in Knoxville that serves 21 states in the Eastern U.S., will hold its Daytona Beach food expo in the Ocean Center exhibit hall Tuesday through Thursday, March 16 - 18. One hundred seventy exhibitors and 1,000 attendees are expected.

Comedian, ventriloquist and television star Jeff Dunham is bringing his “Identity Crisis Tour 2010” to the Ocean Center arena at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This will be Dunham’s first appearance in Daytona Beach. Tickets may be purchased at the Ocean Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at

The Pan American Championships for Trampoline and Tumbling, hosted by USA Gymnastics, will be in the Ocean Center arena Tuesday through Saturday, March 23 - 27. USA Gymnastics clubs from around the world will bring advanced-level athletes to compete. Six hundred athletes and coaches from the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico are expected. The event is the result of a joint booking effort of the Ocean Center and the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Spring Home and Garden Expo 2010 will fill the facility’s exhibit hall March 26 - 28. The show will be open free to the public from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday. More than 250 exhibitors will showcase home and outdoor products and services. Free seminars will focus on gardening and landscape design, home organization, financial planning and more.

Finishing up a busy month at the Ocean Center, Ace Gymnastics competitors and supporters will give their all in the “Daytona Beach Open 2010” in the Ocean Center ballroom Friday through Sunday, March 26 - 28.
